The project was awarded a Mass Cultural Council Grant in 2023. Additional funds for the public art sculpture will come from local donations. We are asking Amherst businesses and interested individuals to make contributions ranging from a $1 participation gesture to whatever you would like to give!   

The current estimate is $X000 for the sculpture. If we raise more than that, the plan is to give any remaining money to Equiculture, a renowned draft and working horse sanctuary in Canaan, ME. The sanctuary takes in retired drafts, disabled and homeless working horses giving them permanent homes for life. They have been involved with UMASS School of Agriculture in the past, teaching driving skills and equiculture to students.

If you would like to contribute by check or any another method, get in touch and we can arrange collection within a 10 mile radius of Amherst or provide a different method for you. Amherst Chamber of Commerce accountants will audit all donations made to For Want of A Nail and DONA will support 501c tax-deductible donations.
